About Me

While working in education, I found technology to be fascinating and availed myself of any opportunity to further my knowledge of technology and its use in educational settings. In the school library I managed the media center computer network, beginning with the old DOS based automation up through a windows based bar-coded checkout system, plus all the technical aspects of the school including the installation and management of the Accelerated Reader program.
I developed and produced a closed circuit television show, distributing it to the entire school. The last productions used 2 cameras, a computer, a digital switcher, 3 microphones and a CD player. Every 5th grader participated in the program, a rotating crew of 7 students each week.
In 2008-2009, I completed 5 online classes through Darton’s Continuing Ed program to renew my Georgia teaching certification. I am now taking classes toward a certificate in Instructional Technology Online Education. Having finished COPR 1122 this past summer, I am currently taking COPR 1114 and COPR 1123. I will take the final 2 courses spring semester 2010.
Children’s literature is a passion for me. Exposing children to early language experiences is so important, so read to a child.
The opportunities to improve education through the use of technology are there for the taking. I will continue to learn and share my knowledge.
